We are excited to announce an important new chapter for Tom’s Shoe Repair as it enters its 53rd year of service. On January 1, 2025, ownership of the business transitioned to Friend Holdings, LLC, a family-run company proudly owned by Brad Friend and his son Brandon. Both residents of Southwest Missouri, Brad, and Brandon are thrilled to continue the legacy of excellence that has made Tom’s Shoe Repair a trusted name in our community.
Tom Garcia founded Tom’s Shoe Repair in 1972, beginning in the Plaza Tower on South Glenstone Avenue in Springfield, Missouri. As the business grew, Tom moved to a larger location across the street in the Plaza Shopping Center, where he earned a loyal following with his exceptional shoe and tack repair work. Over the years, Tom’s commitment to craftsmanship and customer care built a reputation that became a cornerstone of Springfield’s local business community.
In the early 1990s, Tom faced personal challenges when his wife was diagnosed with a serious health condition. During this time, he hired Kevin Quinn, a skilled technician from Montana with experience in shoe repair, to help manage the business. In 1993, the Quinn family took over ownership, expanding the services to include repairs for purses, handbags, belts, and luggage. The business moved to its current location at 1227 E. Republic Road in 2014, continuing to serve the Springfield community with the same dedication to quality.
Now, as the new owners, Brad and Brandon Friend are honored to continue this tradition of exceptional service. They are deeply committed to upholding the values that have made Tom’s Shoe Repair a Springfield institution, including:
